Progress of brief: Brick wall conceptually - reminder from Penny to keep on brief with my outcomes

Issues discussed:

- Feedback on the Emma's House animation

Client feedback:

Penny mentioned that I'm a bit off track with tying in locations

Action points:

- Back to the drawing board - brainstorm ways to keep the project more on brief

Hi Lisa Thanks for sending links to your updates – all looking very thorough developments on the animation technique. Interesting that the lo-tech methods (staying true to the Sarah Records ethic) didn’t quite achieve what you needed and digital technology gave you the means – quickly and effectively. I think the development was really good to explore and the photoshop animation is very effective. In terms of your brief ...I may be missing something, but I wondered if the broader aims of your brief “explore the history and influence Sarah Records had on the music industry in Bristol” are getting a little lost in the detail of the illustration and animation. Your final outcome celebrating ‘an aspect of Sarah records’ may be a ‘pop video’ but if it’s only an animation of one song where is the ‘history and influence’? I guess ‘history’ perhaps you could argue is in the visual style and musical genre... but the influence? We seem to be a little off track with sense of place... the locations in Bristol. Do you intend to broaden out and include history/sense of location? I can’t hear the lyrics that well but the harbour reference “Early morning by the harbour the clouds above form one sheet that's grey “ answers this to some extent... How might you clarify this Bristol Harbour connection? If you are sticking to the first of your outcome bullet points from your PROFESSIONAL BRIEF PROJECT PROPOSAL, then you seem to be on track :-) Your described audience are fans and music history buffs – what are you giving them that’s different? and might you be able to test out some of your work with actual fans?? to gauge likely response? Then you can adapt in light of any feedback. Food for thought... Keep up the good work. Top regards Penny
